Home News Address To The Bugs

Joomlacache News

JoomlaCache is a new site and just went live. Some of our users are pointing out bugs to us. Although we completely tested the functions of the website on computers with different OS’s, browsers and such, there may still be bugs. As all of you developers know, no one can recreate the environment of every single computer user in the world. We used extensions from other developers and some of them may have inherent problems and we, as you, cannot be held responsible for their extensions issues. To this end, just kindly point out the errors and bugs you find and we will fix them. As active members of the Joomla community, we will do our best to share any fixes with the originators of the components that we use. Read on for the list of extensions used on this site.

The bulletin board is JooBB. It has had some issues, but we are fixing them as we go along. Some of you have pointed out some bugs that we missed. We will fix them on our site and share the solutions with the community.

Next, we used the AMBRA Subscription component for handling the extensions subscriptions. What a great project the people at Dioscouri have going. They are also known for JUGA and BILLETS. We found many bugs with the AMBRA system and their support has been fantastic. They have helped to make their extension work for us. We even found the solutions to a few bugs they had and provided them with those solutions. This is how community is supposed to work. We are using the same model for support subscriptions that have used.

For our support ticket system we integrated RSTickets. It seems to be stable and in our testing it has worked will, but as our customers start to use it, I’m sure issues will arise. Work with us and just tell use what the bugs are and we will fixe them.

For the blog we are using IDOBlog . It seems to be pretty stable, but we did have to do some modifications to it. So far it is working fine.

For SEF/SEO we are using ARTIO joomSEF from . I’ve used Artio for several years and I personally recommend it and prefer it over other solutions. Its simple to set up and I have some great placement on the search engines for other sites I have used this extension on.

For backup we use Joomlapack. Again, simple to use and solid. It has also a history of bugs, but they actively update the extension and they respond to the issues in a timely manor.

For the site map we choose XMAP. What can we say, it works. It generates a google XML file easily, the extension is configurable and has many plug-ins made for it.

JoomlaCache developed the slideshow module exclusively for this website. BY request, we are just completing its convertion to an installable module and as soon as testing is completed, we will make it available.

As for the site template, it started off as JWGetty from http://www.joomlaweb.com/. It's a great template, but then as things went along we modified it to make it unique and meet the needs of the functions of the site. Joomlacache offers custom development through our sister website 911WebsiteRepair.com. You can submit a request there and we can make a custom template or modify any existing template to suit your needs.

So, even though we have used commercial grade extensions to build this site, not a one of them has been bug free. Although they have been tested over and over again by us and our testers, you may find new bugs and issues that need to be addressed. What separates these providers from many other providers, is that they provide top quality customer support and they do what it takes to fix the issues. They have set an excellent example that JoomlaCache is using as a benchmark for our services.

One other note, some of these great extensions listed on this page are only working in 1.5.x legacy mode. Also, not all of these extensions pass validation. Most do not. That does not devalue the quality, credibility or efforts of these extension providers, or Joomlacache.
